Steamers are brill. Been using mine for years. Chop veg up as if you're going to boil and then put in steamer for similar length of time. Eg. Chop up a carrot, put in steamer for 20 mins. Done! Rice can be done in a plastic pot inside steamer too. Put rice in pot of some sort, add water to rice to cover it, turn on steamer for 40 mins, perfect rice!

Grandchild being abused?

I think my 10 year old grandchild is being emotionally abused by his stepmom and her kids. Her kids tattle on and fight with my grandson all the time. They use him as an escape goat. He has told me that she has slapped him once. Her kids even told me that she is mean to him. He is like a male version of Cinderella. I don't know what to do. His mother abandon him when he was 3. I think there is a good chance he does like you. You are older and more mature than him, and that tends to attract young boys his age just as they are getting into puberty. As for the age difference. 3 years isn't too much necessarily, but is generally considered pushing the limits at your ages. I got a 2007 Toyota Sienna and its was starting fine until I tried installing reverse sensors. Wont start now.

Using a light tester i found both reverse fuses are blown (will replace those later). But heres where it gets strange, I jump the battery and car starts, everything works well, but as soon as I remove the cables the cars shutsoff instantly. For testing purposes I removed the old battery and put another heavy duty one in (temporarily), and I took the car for a drive. I drove around the block a few times with no problems (10 mins maybe). Now my question is should I get the battery tested or purchase a new battery or do you guys think the alternator may not be charging my batteries. I can keep driving on the temporary baterry and see if it gives up that way I know for sure if the alternator is screwed up.

Whenever it rains alot my basement floods. What are some way in order to prevent the flooding?

I do not have a walk-out basement. So whenever it rains heavily, the drainage at the bottom of the stairs can not handle the amount of rain so my basement floods. At first, only the carpet in front of the doors used to get wet but now the carpet in the middle of the room is also getting wet. Stubborn 2 yr old?

Hi, I pulled out my Houseplant Identification book,and the closest I could find to what your describing is (there are three) Codiaeum,or croton a Hawaiian Ti, or Dracaena or Corn Salk plant. Really it doesn't make much difference to what it is because whatever it is, it has root -rot. If it feels mushy on the trunk, that's what it is, You can try to save it by getting it immediately out of the pot, and let the roots have a little air. I'd set it aside for about an hour,out of it's pot. Be careful when you brush the dirt away from the roots of the plant, allot of them will be mushy too. With sterilised scissors, snip away the mushy ones(roots that is) You'll want to get a new pot,or scrub the old one clean,but you really should get a new pot, an inch bigger than the old one.You should mix some Good potting soil, some garden sand, some perlite(about one third of the total mixture) and I like to add a little orchid mix (fine) to it because it adds ? well, I don't know what it adds, but I do it anyways. Mix it all together,then with some broken pieces of pottery,rocks in the bottom of the new pot, re-pot your plant. Afterwards,soak it with some Quick Start,to prevent trans plant shock. You could also dip the roots of the plant in some Rooting Compound first. That's all I can do to help you on the matter.Sorry I don't know more. Byee

Bronchitis just won't go away!?

Four weeks ago I had bronchitis with green phlegm, and was prescribed penicillin for a week to treat it. I felt a little better, but within a week I was coughing up green gunk again. I went back to the doctor, and got a two week prescription for amoxycillin. That's funny. I've worked as a Nursing istant and in other positions for 5 years and all I want is to get out of health care. I'm going to school for my IT degree because I feel that with the current state of health care I can actually help more people with IT insofar as my ability to help people educate themselves (I want to start my own computer business). I wanted to become an RN at one point but changed my mind. There are a lot of angles to take into consideration when thinking about health care but if you're really driven to help people, go get your Nursing istant certification (1 semester of cl) and do direct care work, that's how you most directly help people. As you move up in the field, LPN, RN, NP, PA, MD you actually become more distanced from the patients. As a nursing istant you bathe, feed, and dress patients, those that really need help. As an LPN or RN you p medications and do wound dressings and other things. As an NP or PA you ess patients and can prescribe medications (in many cases with an MD's cosignature), and well, you know what an MD does. How to except the fact the Scott Pilgrim vs. the world didn't receive are larger praise?

I love that movie. It's been bettered reviewed then the expendables which people just went to see for the emble cast of action actors. emble casts don't make a freakin good movie! Film-makers treated like a reunion film. I learned that the hard way with grown ups. I love those actors but that was one of the worst movies I have ever watched. The only reason people would want to see a emble cast movie is to express dedication to the actors. If you want to prove your dedication, go see the movies were they express their true acting abilities. Scott Pilgrim was a work of art in both comedy, action, and visual effects bring graphics from manga/anime and video games. Either that or people are so freakin closed minded to those type of movies. I admit that movies based on anime/manga like Speed Racer really suck. But Scott Pilgrim is one of those movies were I don't even need to justify. It was no independent film the directing wasn't lazy at all. I'm not saying the movie will when the Oscars, but it's one of those movies worth seeing like all the other action fandom movies or comedy movies. It's like wanting any Star Wars, Batman, Iron Man those kind of regular but artistic type of movies. If that phenomenal movie doesn't succeed, I'm going to mentally separate myself from humanity. Is it a bad idea to go to a school an hour away?

I have four options of schools that I could go to for sixth form, I can go back to the school that I already go to but they couldn't fit the subjects i wanted in the right box so i cant do the subjects i want to (and its an all girls school). I could go to a college not to far from my house, but this college doesn't have the best reputation, and all of my friends are going there and i want to start afresh and meet new friends. There is also a school out in es that i could go to but that is quite far away, but they have a coach to take you there. The bad thing about that one is if i have to do something after school and i miss the bus i have to get the train, i don't know what to do because es is countryside and the train station is nowhere near the school. The school that i really want to go is in north london (i live in east) and its a half an hour journey in the morning because my mum will drop me to the station, and an hours journey in the evening. I don't know if this is too much of a journey for me, which sixth form would be the best for me to go to?

Well, I haven't had my baby yet, but I've seen something on tv about a guy who was basically treating his wife like she didn't know anything about her own baby, because she hadn't had a lot of experience before having a child of her own. He needs to realize that the baby will let them know when she needs something. He is probably making her feel like a bad mother because it seems like he is trying to take over, whether he knows it or not. Maybe she should ask him why he thinks he's the mother and why he thinks that he should be putting his wife down for following instinct? If the baby isn't fussing or crying, nobody needs to be constantly watching her, waiting for her to cry, or waking her up and messing up her natural rythm. He should try to see that a baby is a baby and he can't control when she cries and needs fed and changed! He needs to give his wife a chance and back off so she can be a mother and spend time with her baby. It's his responsibility to help too, but if he's not giving her a chance, then he's being really selfish.

I smoked lights until it hurt( 10 years, 1.5 packs a day ) then went to ultra lights until eventually it hurt as well. This has been on for a year. New York is a great place to live. There are so many place to go and so many things to do...it is so culturally diverse and there is always something special going on. The food is great--everywhere you go...one thing I miss when I visit other cities is in New York you can order any type of food at all hours of the night and they'll deliver it. However, you say you hate your town; as much as I love New York, if you didn't grow up here its a huge culture shock (I feel the same way when I visit other parts of the country). There is no other place like New York and that is a good and bad thing. People like me will tell you how great it is, but we grew up with it. We're used to going to Central Park and walking past the Empire State Building and all of those cliches people think of when they think New York. If you're coming from somewhere else, it may be different. You may have ideas in your head of what New York is like and how it may make you feel, but you may find yourself homesick. New York never stops, there's no break or vacation, and it can take a lot out of you. But if you're the kind of person who loves adventure and doesn't mind the hustle and bustle of a big city at all hours of the night, then I suggest you come down for a week or two and see how well you like it if you were to live here. Who knows, it could be the best decision of your life; it could also be the opposite. But if you don't try, you'll never know. I love this city and I hope you discover you do too. Good luck!

Also, if you feed hay, a really good trick (which worked for my rabbit) is to put all the hay they eat in a day into the litter pan instead of a hay rack or some such, since they spend most of the day eating the hay, they will spend most of the day in the litter box and will ociate sitting in the box with using the bathroom. Don't worry about hygiene, rabbits won't eat pee or poo covered hay, which is why even if there is hay in the box the next day, you should clean it out and put new hay in, because it's left over because it's dirty and the rabbit doesn't want it.

Taxes on an early pension payout...?

I took an early pension payout when I left my job after 11 years. Instead of reinvesting the money I used it to pay off all my bills except my vehicle, i.e. credit cards, late doctor/hospital bills, etc. I paid state and federal taxes on the money before it was ever given to me, and I paid a penalty for early withdrawal. On my taxes the next year, the sum I was actually paid was added to my taxable income, throwing me into a higher tax bracket as a single person and now I owe the IRS big time. I am confused as to how this is not taxing the same money twice. I added up the total tax on the pension money and if correct my portion of that money that I worked for would have ended up being $1,500.00 (the pension was only $23,600.00 and I ended up with a little over $16,000.00 when they took the first set of taxes out). I had a certified account do my taxes for me but I think there must be a mistake somewhere. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

Severe Ankle Pain.. No Insurance?

I have recent posts of a bad ankle that has been hurting for the past 4 months from soccer accident. Now I hurt my opposite, today my bf and I were riding the snowmobile, and he was pullin me behind on the sled. He jumped off a jump and I went like 10 feet in the air, was able to land on the sled but when I landed I landed on my ankle between the sled and me sitting indian style. I had really bad pain for a couple minutes and couldnt move so we stopped. I layed down and just woke up and can barely walk on it. It is really sensitive and hurts badly to touch the ankle bone on the outside. There's no apparent bruising, some swelling around that bone. I dont have health insurance, and now I have two hurt ankles, can barely walk. and have to go to work tomorrow. The weird thing is is that the pain feels like a bone pain, not like a sprain. and I would rate the pain a 10 as the worse pain I have ever had. What do you thinks going on? and what should I do? Ok well my daughters doctor (she's 16 months) has one of those 24/7 call a nurse hotlines so you can talk to them before having the on call doctor paged. Well my nephew had croupe a few wks back and my daughter was exposed to it and apparently he never got over it and got pneumonia, my mom got pneumonia a short time after being around him.
