Good apartments near Downers Grove, IL?

My husband and I are planning to move to this area in August. We are planning to rent, but would like some advice as to what places to look at. I've already looked at some apartments, but the reviews were horrible!!! Do you have experience with the area? It doesn't have to be in Downers Grove. Thanks for any advice.
